Body found in Tippecanoe River in Kosciusko County identified

Detectives with the Indiana State Police are conducting a death investigation after the body of a male was discovered in the Tippecanoe River.

Indiana Conservation Officers were called around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, to the river near State Road 10 and State Road 19 in Kosciusko County where they found the body of Thomas Schmeltz, 65, of Bourbon.

The Kosciusko County Coroner reports Schmeltz died due to drowning.
