(Associated Press) The financial sector, blamed by progressives for spawning the 2008 financial crisis, is lining up behind Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.

The mayor of South Bend has collected more campaign cash from donors and political action committees tied to the financial, insurance and real estate sector than any other White House hopeful. That’s according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

He’s raised $3.06 million from the sector.

His contributions from Sullivan & Cromwell, a major legal firm known for its close work with Wall Street during the bailout, could create particular headaches for him in the primary.
