Teen sentenced in 2017 South Bend murder

An 18-year-old from St. Joseph County has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder.

Devin Nilli (also known as Brantley) was sentenced to 50 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for Murder and received an additional 10-year sentence for a Firearm Sentencing Enhancement.

Nilli was found guilty in the May 2017 shooting death of Felipe Gutierrez in the parking lot of the Charles Black Center in South Bend.

Nilli pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement on January 6, and as a result, felony murder and robbery charges were dismissed.

Four other individuals have been charged and sentenced in the incident, including the following:

  • George Watson, Jr. – 18
    • Sentenced to 30 years, with 25 years executed and five years suspended, and five years probation for Aiding, Inducing and Causing Armed Robbery which Resulted in Serious Bodily Injury.
  • Qualan Jones – 17
    • Sentenced to 30 years, with five years executed and 25 years suspended, and 25 years probation for Aiding, Inducing or Causing Armed Robbery that Resulted in Serious Bodily Injury.
  • Tahzjuan Snelling – 18
    • Sentenced to six years with four years suspended, and four years probation, for Attempted Robbery.
  • Que’lin Jones – 18
    • Sentenced to two and a half years suspended and two and a half years probation for Assisting a Criminal.
