Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed off on most of the bipartisan relief bill that state lawmakers passed that will provide support for those who are sidelined or shutdown because of the pandemic.

$55 million dollars will be used for businesses impacted by COVID-19 in the form of grants of up to $20,000. Grants of up to $40,000 are set aside for live music and entertainment venues.

The bill also includes $45 million for workers who’ve been furloughed or laid-off.

Whitmer line-item vetoed $220 million dollars to the employer-owned unemployment insurance trust fund — calling it a “giveaway.”
