Police from four townships were involved in a pursuit and arrest Friday morning.

Sheriff Paul Bailey’s office says it began with an attempted traffic stop at 9 a.m. on M-140 near Lane Drive in Watervliet Township. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, refused to pull over and entered I-94 with police in tow.

The chase went west-bound through Watervliet, Coloma and Benton Townships at speeds up to 100 mph until the driver turned around near Pipestone Road and began traveling east.

The driver reportedly pointed what appeared to be a gun at officers during the chase, which ended when stop sticks were deployed near Highland Avenue. The driver surrendered after coming to a stop after his tire deflated.

The gun was a toy. The 19 year-old male driver, from Hartford, was arrested on three counts.
