Michigan judge considers changes for the state’s student-athletes

A Michigan judge is considering a pause on student-athlete testing and quarantining in the state, as part of a lawsuit against the state health department.

The suit was filed by a parent group. A Facebook group called Let Them Play Michigan seeks an injunction to stop weekly testing requirements, mandatory quarantines, and even mask requirements for school sports.

The judge said earlier this week that he has more research to do on the matter but expects to make a decision soon in the case, according to WSBT.

Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services currently requires student-athletes between the ages of 13 and 19 to take a weekly COVID test. The group seeks to have the department’s health order undergo a more official procedure.
