A South Bend man has pleaded guilty to robbing an Elkhart gas station after being convinced by his mother to turn himself into police.

The heist happened in December 2019 at a gas station of Franklin Street when the suspect, Dominick Taylor, 28, walked into the station, pulled out a gun, ordered the cashier to open the register, then took all the cash and left.

Police released surveillance photos of Taylor taken during the crime, which led to several tips, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

If the plea is accepted, he could spend four years behind bars and four years in community corrections.
