A 16-year-old Elkhart girl was hurt when the car she was riding in was struck, head-on, by another vehicle.

The collision happened around 8:20 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, when a New York woman driving a Subaru drove left-of-center on the off-ramp from Old U.S. 20 to U.S. 20 and struck a Jeep driven by a 16-year-old girl from Elkhart.

The woman who caused the crash said she took the wrong turn and was going the wrong way on a one-way road, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl who was in the Jeep and was hurt was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with pain in her ribs.

The New York woman was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way road, the sheriff’s office reported.

Seriously, they shouldn’t let people from New York out of their state. It’s one thing to screw up your own state, but quite another to mess up someone else’s.
