Jimtown HS teacher no longer with the schools after reportedly slapping a student

A teacher at Jimtown High School has is no longer with the schools after he reportedly slapped a student in the face.

According to a press release from Baugo Community Schools, teacher Mike Hosinski confronted a student about the hoodie sweatshirt the student wore to class on Friday. They argued in the school hallway before Hosinski struck the student in the face.

The slap caused the student’s head to strike the wall, and the student suffered visible injuries. Medical staff immediately treated the student.

The Indiana Department of Child Services and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office are now investigating. Hosinski is no longer employed by Baugo Community Schools and is not permitted on school grounds. A previous report that he had been fired was erroneous.
