The Potawatomi Zoo is sad to announce their 20-year-old Amur leopard, Pearl, was euthanized.

The zoo said Pearl had been declining for a little while due to age-related health issues.

She had lived at the zoo since 2003, and in her time here raised 9 successful cubs with two different males.

Most of her cubs have gone to live at different zoos, but her daughter, Brizzo, known as Novee, still lives at the Potawatomi Zoo.

Leaders call Pearl one of their fiercest cats and that they’ll miss her sassy snarls and imperious gaze.
