Barn fire suspects face additional charges

(Bill Beck/Elkhart Truth)

Two people arrested for setting barns on fire in Elkhart County — are also charged with setting a school on fire in another county.

Last year police say Joseph Hershberger and Sherry Thomas were behind a series of barn fires across the county.

In all eight hay barns were damaged or destroyed. However, that’s apparently not all, say investigators.

Both are also accused of setting Rolling Meadow School on fire back in May 2021 in Marshall County.

So not only will they have to face a judge in Elkhart, but also in Plymouth.

Plea hearings in Elkhart County for the pair are next month.
