Police were called around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, to the 1000 block of Clay Street where they found a man inside a home suffering two two gunshot wounds.

The man was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say the suspect, Clifford Wesley, was detained at the scene of and taken to the LaPorte Police Station for questioning. Police say a firearm was recovered at the scene and collected into evidence.

Wesley was arrested and charged with attempted murder. There was no word about what led to the shooting.

Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
