There is now an agreement to reopen the baby formula factory in Southwest Michigan that has contributed to a nationwide shortage.

The Abbott company said Monday that they had reached an agreement with health officials to restart production at their largest facility in the U.S.

The terms of the agreement with the FDA have not been disclosed, but is a binding legal agreement.

Production was halted in February at the Sturgis plant after four infants became sick, and two of them died.

The formula shortage put pressure on the Biden Administration to consider lifting some of the restrictions on foreign sources of infant formula, as parents worried about how they would be able to feed their babies.
