The South Bend Department of Public Works is asking residents to join a sampling pool.

It’s to test for lead and copper in drinking water.

The city encourages those with home built before 1986 to participate.

They say that the sampling will only take 5 minutes and that testing kits would be dropped off and picked up from homes.

Those interested can request a free sampling kit contacting the South Bend Department of Publics Works by calling 311 or emailing waterquality@southbendin.gov. .

A video explaining how to correctly complete the sampling can be viewed at southbendin.gov/LCRvideo.
