Polls “busier than usual” in Michigan

Poll workers in Michigan said their days were “busier than usual.”

The Michigan Secretary of State’s office reported that voters were casting in-person ballots Tuesday in numbers that exceeded the August Primary, and the 2020 Election.

The strong turnout suggested that 4 million Michiganders were expected to vote in the mid-term, with as many as half of them doing so absentee. The state estimated that there were 14,000 same day voter registrations Tuesday.

In Indiana, Tuesday’s numbers suggested a little more than 609,000 mail-in and early in-person votes were cast. Indiana’s 2018 midterm had a 51% turnout. Estimates for Indiana this year have not been released
