You may be able to see one of nature’s most resplendent happenings this week.
The Northern Lights usually stay far north up in Canada and Alaska, but experts say some solar flares from the sun are on their way towards Earth and will hit the Earth’s magnetic field on Thursday.
That impact is what create aurora borealis, which is the technical term for the northern lights.
Experts also say that the phenomenon will be so powerful that you might be able to see it in the sky over Indiana.
They say the best chance is Thursday, July 13, within the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time.

The aurora borealis is a sight to behold. I remember the first time I seen them in Alaska….dancing colors, dipping, moving, changing, awing. I had to park my car, then I laid on the hood & watched one of nature’s most wondrous shows!!!!
I’ve seen the Northern Lights 3 times in my life and surprisingly, all 3 times I was in Northern Illinois. They didn’t fill the entire sky like WAY up north but it was still an amazing sight to behold! I’m hoping like crazy that I get to see them again this week from Indy!
