Sound of gunfire leads to three people taken into custody in Michigan City

Reports of gunfire led to three people being taken into custody for weapons and marijuana-related charges.

Police in Michigan City tracked the gunfire, on Wednesday night, Sep. 20, to a vehicle traveling along Pleasant Avenue.

When they stopped the vehicle, a police K9 sniffed out possible narcotics.

Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and a handgun.

The driver of the vehicle, Daivion Washington, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana, and a 16-year-old boy in the car was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a handgun. A 13-year-old boy in the car was charged with possession of marijuana.

Officers also obtained a search warrant for a home in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue and found a loaded .45 Caliber handgun and magazine.
