Goshen City leaders are working to protect the Indiana Avenue Recycling Center.

An ordinance allowing the state maximum allowable fine for dumping was imposed at the recent city council meeting after Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty says all kinds of things have been dumped in the recycling.

Fines of up to $2,500 for anyone caught dumping at the recycling center were approved, with hopes that the financial penalty may deter some people from dumping non-recyclables.

What good is a rule if it is not enforced? Kind of like speeding and noise ordinances such as loud mufflers which are pretty bad. Omni Source is a very good place to take certain recyclables, and they give you $ in return.
