NIPSCO Electric customers may not see their bills go up as much as the utility wants.
The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is recommending a major reduction to NIPSCO’s request for a $368 million electric rate increase.
Instead, they’re recommending a $203 million hike.
Twelve witnesses recently filed testimony following a three-month legal and technical review of the testimony, exhibits, and work papers filed by the utility.
Around 4,900 written consumer comments were filed and nearly 70 NIPSCO customers spoke out during three public hearings.
NIPSCO’s rebuttal testimony is due in mid-January. A final ruling is expected in the summer.
