A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 in Fulton County claimed the life of a Peru woman, according to Indiana State Police.
Authorities responded to the crash just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the intersection of Southway 31, where they found one driver unconscious and unresponsive.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a silver Ford Escape, driven by 25-year-old Cameron Green of Coldwater, Michigan, was traveling southbound in the passing lane when it struck a red Nissan Kicks. The Nissan, driven by 55-year-old Tina Adkins of Peru, was stopped in the southbound passing lane for unknown reasons. The impact caused the Nissan to come to rest on the south side of the intersection, while the Ford stopped in the median.
Green sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Woodlawn Hospital. Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Authorities have not yet determined why Adkins’ vehicle was stopped in the lane.
