Four people, including two children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Elkhart.

The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the intersection of Coolidge Avenue and Roys Avenue. According to investigators, a westbound Chevrolet Impala failed to yield at a posted yield sign and struck the rear quarter panel of a southbound Ford Escape.

The impact caused the Ford to overturn onto its side. Two adult occupants in the Impala, both from South Bend, were taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of pain.

Two passengers in the Ford, ages 8 and 13, both from Elkhart, were also transported to the hospital—one with a head contusion and the other with injuries to the head and face. The driver of the Ford was not hurt.

Police say alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. The driver of the Impala was cited at the scene.
