Two Fort Wayne men are facing felony charges after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs and tobacco into the Westville Correctional Facility.
Anterrion Chatfield-John, 23, and Donovan Nelson, 24, were arrested Sunday night, June 15, on charges of trafficking with an inmate.
Unlike previous smuggling attempts using drones, police this time used their own drone to find Chatfield-John hiding in a cornfield near the prison.
Officers say he had a backpack filled with tobacco, about two ounces of marijuana, rolling papers, and cigars, which they say he planned to toss over the prison wall.
Nelson, believed to be the driver, was found parked outside a nearby Taco Bell. Chatfield-John reportedly told police he was promised $1,000 and planned to split it with Nelson.
If convicted, both men face up to six years in prison.
