A deadly officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Berrien County.
It happened late Monday afternoon, June 30, on South Third Street in Niles Township, near U.S. 12.
A Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a vehicle and approached, but the male passenger fled. During the chase, the suspect fired a gun at the deputy, who returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect.
Michigan State Police are handling the investigation. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave.
