The Buchanan Senior Center is launching “Senior Wednesdays” to attract more people to the downtown area of the Redbud City.

Senior Wednesdays began this month as downtown businesses felt the pinch of a drop in customers because of major construction work in the area.

WSJM reports that the Buchanan Senior Center has a campaign offering special deals or perks to seniors when they come downtown on Wednesdays to 22 downtown Buchanan businesses. Attendance at the senior center has dropped as well, given the construction situation in the city.

So far Senior Wednesday have proven popular and they’re hoping it’s a sign of an upturn for the downtown.
