A Goshen man was hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency that led to a single-vehicle crash along U.S. 6, about five miles south of Goshen.

The incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, near the intersection of U.S. 6 and County Road 127. According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old driver was driving a 2021 Toyota pickup eastbound on U.S. 6 when he lost consciousness behind the wheel.

The vehicle veered off the road to the south, struck a large metal stake, and continued into a field, damaging crops before coming to a stop. The truck sustained front-end and undercarriage damage, and its airbags deployed during the crash.

The driver was treated at the scene for neck pain and transported to Goshen Hospital for further evaluation. No citations were issued.
