A local nonprofit is calling supporters to ask lawmakers not to let funding for victim services be cut.
As the Michigan Legislature works out a new state budget, Caring Connection in Benton Harbor is voicing their concerns.
CEO Robin McGinnis says the recently-approved budget would reduce funding statewide by $4 million with a loss of almost $150,000 in local program funding.
McGinnis says the loss would impact the sexual assault, domestic violence and child advocacy centers in the area, as well as all other victim services in Michigan.
She is urging the community to contact State Senators Aric Nesbitt and Jonathan Lindsey about the matter.
