Two new lawsuits have been filed regarding the multi-vehicle crash involving New Prairie buses.

The first lawsuit is filed on behalf of a minor against Shawn Akison, Enterprise, Rent-A-Car, St. Joseph County and Amazon. The second lawsuit was filed by volunteer JV baseball coach, Richard Shail, against the same defendants.

The lawsuits are filed in connection with the May 8 crash involving two buses transporting a New Prairie baseball team that injured several students and a bus driver.

Akison was found to be traveling at a high rate of speed before attempting to pass traffic near Fail Road, causing the crash.
