Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) voted, this week, to approve a package of bipartisan bills aimed at increasing transparency, improving customer service, and strengthening accountability across several federal agencies that millions of Americans rely on.
Yakym said the measures reflect his commitment to ensuring Hoosiers receive clear communication and fair treatment from the federal government.
“These bills protect families, support victims of identity theft, hold the IRS accountable, and modernize the Tax Court,” Yakym said in a statement. “By increasing transparency in how decisions are made, and benefits are delivered, we’re making government work better for the American people.”
The bills, all advanced through the House Ways and Means Committee, cover a wide range of federal services:
H.R. 5284 – Claiming Age Clarity Act
Improves transparency for people navigating age-related Social Security benefit decisions, helping individuals better understand how claiming choices affect long-term finances.
H.R. 5345 – Improving Social Security’s Service to Victims of Identity Theft Act
Expands protections for identity-theft victims and increases public insight into how the Social Security Administration tracks and resolves fraud cases.
H.R. 5346 – Fair and Accountable IRS Reviews Act
Creates clearer IRS review and appeals procedures, giving taxpayers a better understanding of how decisions are made.
H.R. 5348 – Social Security Child Protection Act of 2025
Strengthens safeguards for children whose Social Security numbers have been misused and requires more transparent reporting to families.
H.R. 5349 – Tax Court Improvement Act
Updates operations within the U.S. Tax Court to improve transparency and make its processes more accessible to the public.
H.R. 4313 – Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act
Extends at-home care flexibilities shown to improve patient outcomes and lower costs compared to traditional hospital stays.
All six bills passed with bipartisan support and now move to the Senate for consideration.
