A jury trial for former Deputy Clerk Carol Smith was scheduled to start on Monday. Smith and former County Clerk Chris Anderson faced felony charges of official misconduct and criminal conversion after an audit and investigation last July.

Anderson pleaded guilty last week to official misconduct.

Officials dismissed his conversion charge to avoid double jeopardy.

He is scheduled for sentencing next month and is not expected to serve jail time.
