A law that some people say could save lives in Indiana schools now faces possible removal just months after taking effect.

The law requires schools to plan for cardiac emergencies and keep AEDs available at sporting events and other after-school activities.

Lawmakers cut those requirements from a larger education proposal.

Advocates are pushing back. Julie West, who lost her son after he went into cardiac arrest during football practice, says the law does not require schools to buy large numbers of AEDs.

She says it simply requires schools to be prepared. The House plans to vote on the proposal next week before sending it to the Senate.
