A LaPorte man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison following convictions on drug and firearm charges.

Edwardo Trevino, 43, was sentenced March 19, 2026, by U.S. District Court Judge Cristal C. Brisco after a jury found him guilty of distributing methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred.

Trevino was sentenced to 100 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Trevino sold methamphetamine during the investigation. In a separate incident, he was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle stopped by police. Officers found a backpack on the passenger-side floorboard containing methamphetamine, plastic baggies commonly used for drug distribution, a wallet with Trevino’s identification, and a loaded handgun.

Authorities say Trevino has a prior felony conviction for residential entry, which prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
