A kayaker in distress was safely rescued Tuesday after overturning in the water near Fairlane Drive, thanks to a swift response from local police and fire personnel.

According to authorities, Warsaw Police were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of an overturned kayaker who appeared to be struggling in the water. Patrol officers arrived quickly and assessed the situation, calling in the Warsaw Dive Team for additional support.

While emergency crews prepared to launch a rescue boat from the nearby fairgrounds, firefighters took immediate action. The pair used a nearby canoe to reach the kayaker more quickly.

Once on scene, they were able to guide the individual to a shallow area where he could stand. They remained with him, monitoring his condition, until the rescue boat arrived.

The kayaker, described as exhausted, was then safely brought back to shore without further incident.
