The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that happened on the city’s north side.

Police say the Elkhart Police Department was called just before 2 p.m. on Monday, April 27, to the 2500 block of Links Drive, near Troon Court, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting with injuries.

When officers arrived, they found a woman outside with an apparent gunshot wound and a man inside an apartment at 2515 Links Drive also suffering from gunshot wounds.

Medics with the Elkhart Fire Department provided aid at the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

It’s unclear whether a house fire reported in the area of County Road 3 and Golden Trail is connected to the shooting. Dozens of police vehicles, including SWAT, and fire trucks were called to the scene around the same time as the shooting.
