House Republicans return to Statehouse to begin work on interim study committees

Indiana House Republicans are returning to the Statehouse this summer and fall to begin work on interim study committees ahead of the upcoming legislative session in January.
The bipartisan Legislative Council—a 16-member panel of state representatives and senators—has assigned committees to review specific policy areas, consult experts, analyze research, and hear public testimony. This year’s topics include public safety, transportation, healthcare, education, agriculture, and government services.
State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) will chair the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary, while also serving on panels addressing the criminal code, probate code, and uniform state laws.
“Indiana’s courts play a vital role in ensuring justice is delivered fairly and efficiently in every community,” Jeter said. “As chair of this interim study committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues to thoughtfully review our judicial system and make recommendations that best serve Hoosiers and improve public safety.”
State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) was appointed chair of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation and will also serve on the Nonemergency Medical Transportation Commission.
“Maintaining quality infrastructure and road safety is always a priority,” Pressel said. “This summer, we will study topics including digital driver’s licenses as well as the process for renaming roads and bridges in honor of fallen Hoosier heroes.”
All interim study committee meetings are open to the public. Hoosiers can view agendas, watch livestreams, and track committee assignments online at iga.in.gov.
