Two people escaped with only minor injuries after their vehicle overturned while trying to avoid a deer in Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 20, on Kingsbury Road in LaGrange Township. Investigators say a 76-year-old driver swerved to miss a deer, lost control, rolled the vehicle and crashed into a tree.

The driver and passenger, both from Cassopolis, were trapped inside until emergency crews freed them. They were taken to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
