Kyle Cox released from jail, but must stay at community corrections facility

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A federal judge has allowed a former Indianapolis high school boys’ basketball coach to leave jail while he faces charges that he enticed a 15-year-old girl into a sexual relationship, but he must stay at a community corrections facility.

U.S. District Judge William Lawrence on Tuesday ordered 31-year-old Kyle Cox held on 24-hour lockdown at a Volunteers of America-Indiana facility in downtown Indianapolis. Cox will have no Internet access and limited telephone privileges.

The former Park Tudor School coach had sought to live with his parents while awaiting trial on charges of coercion and enticement. Federal prosecutors wanted him to remain jailed.

Lawrence’s order says Cox must remain on lockdown except for emergencies. He can leave the site only for court appearances, attorney visits and other pre-approved trips.
