INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Three people charged in an alleged scam to claim a $2 million lottery ticket face a December court hearing as their case grows closer to trial.

A Marion County judge on Friday set a Dec. 18 pretrial conference for Joseph Parsley; his wife, Ashlee Parsley; and his brother, Jackie Parsley II. They face theft, fraud and forgery charges.

Jackie Parsley once managed a suburban Indianapolis liquor store where Ashlee Parsley, before getting married, says she bought a $2 million Hoosier Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Prosecutors say that ticket was among a package of $20 tickets stolen from the Plainfield store.

Authorities say Ashlee Parsley claimed the prize, collecting $1.14 million in post-tax winnings.

State law forbids lottery retailers or their relatives from buying tickets from their own retail establishments.
