Extra trains, alcohol restrictions added on South Shore for Lollapalooza

CHESTERTON, Ind. (AP) — A commuter rail in northwestern Indiana is adding extra trains and implementing tighter alcohol restrictions this weekend for the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District has announced the South Shore commuter rail will add an extra westbound train leaving the Portage/Ogden Dunes station at 9:57 a.m. CDT on Saturday and an extra eastbound train departing Millennium Station in Chicago at 10:50 p.m. Saturday. The eastbound train will make its last stop in Michigan City.

The district also announced that alcohol is prohibited on South Shore trains from 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Among those scheduled to appear at Lollapalooza are Paul McCartney, Metallica and Sam Smith. The festival runs Friday through Sunday at Chicago’s Grant Park.
