Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, the Weeknd nominated for top Grammys

NEW YORK (AP) — Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and the Weeknd earned top nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards.

Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly,” Swift’s “1989” and the Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” will battle Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” and Alabama Shakes’ “Sound & Color” for album of the year at the Grammys on Feb. 15, 2016.

Lamar’s “Alright” and Swift’s “Blank Space” are nominated for song of the year against Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again,” Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking out Loud” and Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.”

Record of the year nominees include “Blank Space,” ‘‘Thinking out Loud,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” the Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Really Love” from D’Angelo and the Vanguard.

Best new artist contenders are Meghan Trainor, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Sam Hunt and Courtney Barnett.
