Two and a half months after it was retired, the Goshen High School Redskins mascot will be honored in an open house on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m. will honor the 90-year tradition of the mascot, our news partners The Elkhart Truth. The school’s wooden Native American statue will be inducted into the athletic wall of fame and its new display case will be debuted. The case will be accompanied by a plaque.

The Redskins mascot was retired Jan. 1 following a contentious debate.

Commemorative T-shirts sold online before the event will be available for pickup, The Truth reported. The shirts will be available again after the open house until the end of February.
