Michiana is in the risk zone on Monday with an enhanced chance for strong-to-severe storms

Northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan have an enhanced risk of severe storms for Michiana on Monday afternoon, June 22, through early Monday night.

The greatest risk is for damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service. Large hail and heavy rainfall are also possible. Isolated tornadoes can not be ruled out.

High waves may also cause dangerous swimming conditions on Lake Michigan beaches on Monday. A Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service calls for high wave action and dangerous swimming conditions. Waves will increase to 3-to-5 feet on Monday afternoon and continue through late Monday night. Strong rip currents are expected, according to the National Weather Service.
