Elkhart City Council voted to approve a $7 million bond proposal for a list of development projects in and around the city center Monday night, April 20.

Ideas on a list of proposed projects include upgrades to Main Street north and south of the downtown area, improvements to the Civic Plaza and improvements to the New York Central Railroad Museum, as well as the razing of land near the riverfront for possible future development, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

The final vote was 5 to 2 in favor of bond. Councilmen Brian Dickerson and David Henke, who had expressed concern about the amount of money and lack of oversight on how it would be spent, voted against.
