72-year-old man killed in single-vehicle crash in Mason Township

A 72-year-old Cassopolis, Mich., man was killed after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday, April 8.

At around 5:20 p.m., Wayne Roscoe Owen was northbound on Cassopolis Road near Starbrick Street when police say he drove off the road and hit a tree, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office

A witness told police Owen’s vehicle drove off the road and into a field when he continued to drive, temporarily entering the road again before crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting a tree, according to the release. 

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The crash is under investigation.
