The wait is over for Notre Dame football fans anxious to see the design of The Shirt 2015.

The Shirt, a Fighting Irish tradition since 1990, was unveiled on Sunday, April 26, at the Hammes Book Store on the Notre Dame campus.

The unveiling has traditionally happened during the Blue and Gold game. However, that wasn’t the case this year.

Because of the construction at Notre Dame Stadium, the Blue and Gold game was played on the practice fields. That meant the game was invite-only for a limited audience of up to 3,000, compared to the usual crowd of nearly 30,000 fans.

“To work with this change, The Shirt Committee decided to move the unveiling to be in conjunction with ND Day,” according to a post on The Shirt ND Facebook page, which was on Sunday.

Half of the proceeds from The Shirt go to The Shirt Charity, which helps students afford unexpected medical expenses, according to The Shirt webpage. The rest of the revenue is used to fund student clubs, organizations, and The Rector Fund, which allows all students to have the full Notre Dame experience regardless of their financial situation, according to The Shirt webpage.
