Voters in Michigan approved two bond proposals during a special election Tuesday, May 5, that will pay for millions of dollars in upgrades to Niles Community Schools.

Between the two proposals, $40 million will be used to improve security at school buildings, as well as infrastructure, technology and energy efficiency, according to the Niles Daily Star.

Taxpayers in the Niles Community Schools district will pay an extra $16 a month.
