South Bend residents could soon be fined anywhere from $350 to $1,500 for having grass that is too high, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s news partners ABC 57.
The South Bend Common Council is considering changes that would require all property owners to keep their grass less than nine inches high or else be subjected to the fines. Exceptions would be made for natural landscaping and plants.
The proposal was sent to the council’s Health and Public Safety Committee during the common council’s meeting on Monday, May 11.
The Health and Public Safety Committee will discuss the changes to the ordinance Tuesday, May 26.
