Woman killed in crash in South Bend early Sunday morning

A 33-year-old woman died after a one-vehicle crash in South Bend over the weekend.

Monica Bueno was pronounced dead at 4:57 a.m. Sunday, May 31, at Memorial Hospital, according to a news release from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bueno and her boyfriend were in the vehicle when it crashed at about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Indiana Avenue, south of downtown South Bend. When police arrived on scene, Bueno’s boyfriend told police that Bueno was driving the vehicle and that he couldn’t find her. She was found 30 to 40 feet away from the vehicle.

The crash is under investigation.
