Blackhawks return to Chicago just 1 win away from title

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks are one win away from their third Stanley Cup title in six seasons, and their depth has played a key role against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kris Versteeg and Antoine Vermette combined for the winning goal in Chicago’s 2-1 victory in Game 5 on Saturday night. Vermette was a healthy scratch for Game 3 of the Western Conference finals against Anaheim, and Versteeg has played in 11 of the Blackhawks’ 22 playoff games.

Next up is Game 6 on Monday night in Chicago, when the Blackhawks will have the opportunity to clinch the title at home for the first time since 1938.

Defenseman Brent Seabrook says Sunday that it’s not just another hockey game, but the team has to try to treat it that way.
