Marqwan Beserra is being held without bond at St. Joseph County Jail after he was arrested in Georgia

An 18-year-old man arrested Georgia in connection to a deadly June shooting in South Bend has been extradited to St. Joseph County and was arraigned.

Marqwan Beserra is being held without bond at the St. Joseph County Jail and awaiting his next hearing, set for 9 a.m. Oct. 6, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Beserra was charged with murder June 10 in connection to the deadly shooting of Jerry Wright in the 2400 block of Frederickson Street in South Bend on June 9. Wright had been shot several times and multiple witnesses told police that Beserra was the gunman.

Witnesses also said that the shooting happened after an argument.

He was arrested Sept. 4 in Austell, Ga., and brought to St. Joseph County Sept. 19.
