Jared Fogle's victims get $1 million as he begins paying restitution

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Ten victims of former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle have received a total of $1 million in restitution since he agreed in August to plead guilty to child pornography and sex-crime charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven DeBrota tells The Associated Press the $100,000 checks were hand-delivered to the 10 victims or their parents. Each signed a form saying they had received the money and that it’s intended to benefit that particular victim.

DeBrota says Fogle’s four other victims could have their checks by the time the disgraced spokesman is sentenced Nov. 19.

Fogle is expected to plead guilty to distribution and receipt of child pornography and traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. Fogle’s plea deal required him to provide $100,000 to each of his 14 victims.
